On a drive on a sunny California Day, one of my good girlfriends remarked, “Golf courses are a waste of space for the rich.”\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Timber!!!\"<\/a>

Timber!!!<\/p><\/div>\n

It’s a sentiment that stuck with me. Only because I disagreed with it, on all levels.<\/p>\n

I don’t have negative feelings towards golf courses, or the rich.\u00a0 I find golf courses to have a certain elegance. I like to golf.\u00a0 I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to be rich.\u00a0 Make no mistake, I want to be rich.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Not just rich.\u00a0 Real rich<\/strong>.\u00a0 The kind that you can’t fake.\u00a0 The kind that the bank can’t take away.\u00a0 Conspiracy and Illuminati theory rich. Okay- I don’t need to be that<\/em> rich…\u00a0 more like pay for my retirement community\u00a0in Santa Barbara tomorrow rich.<\/p>\n

I don’t have to live extravagant rich.\u00a0 I have no need to be on a television program that showcases my home.<\/p>\n

\"Madame<\/a>

Madame Bettencourt, L’Oreal heiress, is said to fulfill a \u201cdespoiled, but colorful\u201d life. That’s what I would be!<\/p><\/div>\n

I want to be the type of rich where my money makes money. The type of rich where I can donate. A lot.<\/p>\n

The type of rich where I can live at <\/strong>the Four Seasons Beverly Hills, if I wanted to. <\/strong>Five–<\/strong>coastal rich.<\/p>\n

\"For<\/a>

For that clean, fresh feeling.<\/p><\/div>\n

Manhattan apartment I hardly use rich.\u00a0 The type of rich where I can give out a bunch Clarisonics for Christmas. How many are in a bunch?\u00a0 How many people do I love?\u00a0 That’s how many will be in my bunch.<\/p>\n

The type of rich where I pay for my nephew’s Ivy League or even Justice League education.\u00a0 Whatever he wants, his aunt is RICH<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

I’d like to own massive rental properties, yet live in a sensible home off of Abbot Kinney in Venice, California. <\/strong>That is until I turn 45 and\u00a0move to the Pacific Palisades.<\/strong>\u00a0Yes, I’m sensible. I drive a 2008 Volkswagen beetle, and even if I got rich tomorrow, I’d probably graduate to a Prius. That being said, I can’t say that my chest doesn’t get warm when I see a Bentley.<\/p>\n

I’ve never heard a human say “I don’t like nice things.”\u00a0 At least not in English.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I see nothing wrong with being rich, or wanting to be rich.<\/p>\n

My mom tells me\u00a0there’s more to life than being really rich.<\/strong>\u00a0 Hey, I get it, and I’m thankful for the life I have.\u00a0 A few days a week, I run on the beach.\u00a0 I have the most wonderful supportive family, and my friends are true. I get to make people laugh as a job.<\/p>\n

I know there’s\u00a0more to life than being rich.\u00a0 And, sometimes, it’s a day on the golf course.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As the sun settles on the golf course, so does the soul.<\/p><\/div>\n

So… who’s going to the driving range with me this week?<\/p>\n
